A New Blog Dawns

I’ve been overthinking this.

In the past, I’ve always approached “blogging” as an exercise in writing semi-formal essays, or pieces of a larger work, or something requiring research and references. That meant I was never much of a blogger. It took too much time and too much effort that I needed to direct elsewhere, namely whatever novel or short story I was currently working on. Who has time to blog when you have to finish Chapter 25 of your latest masterpiece?

With this renewed web site, I’ve decided on a different approach. I’m going to write regular posts, whenever I feel like it, from the top of my head, just like I would if I was telling you a story down at the pub over a pint (or whatever passes for a “pub” and a “pint” around here). I’m not going to worry too much about grammar or flow; it’s going to come out of my fingertips the way it comes out, and it’s going to stay there.

Well, maybe I’ll give each piece a little once-over, but that’s it!

And another thing: I’ve decided to concentrate my web site on writing. No more talk of movies or science or history or whatever. One of my faults is a failure to concentrate, so now I’ll be concentrating. I love reading about how other authors write, so that’s what I’m going to talk about. Here you’ll find snippets about how and why I wrote something, where an idea came from – answering that age-old question all authors get, “Where do you get your ideas?” At least, insofar as I actually know or remember.

If you have a moment, grab a pint and join me.
